Early adulthood – congrats! You’re finally 18+! You may (or may not) have moved into your own place (or dorm) and enjoy more independence. You can go where you want when you want, eat what you want, dress how you want, hang out with who you want. It’s a time of fulfilling desires you might have been restricted from before, and let’s be real… things can get a little crazy.
If you are reading this, there are probably a few, or several, things occurring within or around you that feel stressful or distressing. Maybe you’re struggling to find a job that fulfills and energizes your passions, or maybe you’re facing challenges with roommates, friends, and/or your significant other. You might still be living at home with family and are unsure how to motivate yourself to go to school or get a job. Regardless of the obstacle, you find yourself struggling to find joy in connection to your self and others.
You are legally an “adult”… and, yet, some things still feel very hard. Parents may still have expectations and requirements, friendships and relationships may be erratic, and it may still feel like expectations are coming from every direction.
There are some big questions and decisions to face: What do I want to do for a job? What do I want to study in school? Where do I want to live? Who do I want to hang out with? What do I want to do with my life? What are these “bills” I keep getting?
Becoming a young adult is exhilarating.
